** However a trine isn't strong enough to balance out other, negative constellations
in the horoscope chart.
** It combines the energies of sun and jupiter and the traits of leo and sagitarius.
** A trine activates all things that the 5th and the 9th house
(=astrology houses) stand for.

When reading/interpreting an astrology chart one has to take into account
aspects. They refer to the degree that planets etc. are apart from each other.

**Planets are squared by being 90 degrees apart,
this will mean being 3 (zodiac) signs apart.

**A square creates friction and is a very inharmonious aspect.

**It indicates frustration, inhibition, disruption and and inner conflict.

**After the conjunction the square is the most powerful aspect there is.
Reason being that the square has a much more dynamic effect than any other aspect.
With regards to human behaviour the square is even much stronger than the conjunction.

**After a lot of hard work a square can become a source of energy and activation to someone determined enough to overcome the limitations.

**Astrological squares show us serious life crises, with which one has to deal in one form or another. Thus this aspect is a real challenge to experience.

Astrology school - part 13: aspects ~ the conjunction.

Today we will continue with some information on aspects.

When reading/interpreting an astrology chart one has to take into account
aspects. They refer to the degree that planets etc. are apart from each other.

The closest aspect there is, is the conjunction.
Planets are conjunct to each other by being +/- 8 degrees apart
(when the sun is involved this degree allowance is actually +/- 10 degrees).
The astrological term for this allowance of degrees that planet can be apart from each other, before they are categorized as a certain aspect, is called orb.

Now, the conjunction is the most powerful aspect as it indicates two planets being really close to each other. Thus their energies mix together.
A conjuction emphasizes the character of the planets, it unifies and blends as well.

Similar energies of planets will be enforced,
whereas planets with extreme different energies will work against each other.
Which planet will 'win' such struggle will depend on the house and sign and element involved as well.

The slower the planet involved in the conjunction (or any other aspect)
the more powerful its effects.

Astrology school - part 12: the nodes of the moon.

Today we will continue with some Astrology basics about the nodes of the moon. .

-There are two types of nodes,
the south node, also referred to as the dragon's tail
and the north node also referred to as the dragon's head.

-Basically the south node describes our karma of the past,
so it represents the gateway to our past (lives).
The south node has a reference to the planet saturn.
-The north node describes where and how the soul must follow its destiny,
thus it is the potential for our present life, with it having a reference to the planet jupiter.
-The south node also shows us survival strategies that have served our soul well
in the past and those strategies are well known to us.
-Whereas the north node being the door to our future it shows the untravelled path and unknown areas for us.

What makes a good astrologer?

A horoscope chart (= astrological display of the birth data)
can give a deep insight into someone's life.

The art is now to combine the numerous bits of information into the most important factors for the person at that moment in time.

However even more important is the consultation itself.

During an astrological consultation it is rather essential to present the client with practical and real-life applications of the mentioned facts into the person's life. Mentioning of a concerned statement like: "Oh yes, you really have a rather difficult sun square saturn." for example doesn't help the client one little bit.

In addition during the entire consultation the astrologer needs to bear the client's horoscope in mind as well. As someone going through a difficult phase with for example the natal moon in aries cannot be told the information in exactly the same way like someone with the natal moon in cancer. The astrologer sees from the chart
the client's innate feelings towards situations, and this needs to be taken into account when talking to that person.

To be able to do this clients need to understand as well, that it will take 'a short moment' for the astrologer to read the chart, so any ethical astrological reading cannot take a couple of minutes only.

Especially in child astrology the pure numeration of traits, strengths and weaknesses is already really interesting but as children's education is very complex and for many parents a brand new field of expertise, they will also require practical educational tips on how to deal with certain strengths and weaknesses of their child or how to best address the child in a helpful way. For this quite a bit of psychological knowledge is needed.

Unfortunately not every astrologer has this needed knowledge. Quite often they are really good mathematicians but lack the psychological insight and sometimes they just do not have the required sensitive touch to not only give out the astrological facts of the client's chart but to incorporate them in practical life applications for the client. Only when this is done will a consultation for a child horoscope be beneficial for the parents.

Of course the astrologer's own planetary constellations of his or her own chart will play an important role with this as well, simply as we are all influenced by our astrology charts (horoscopes) at all times. But especially because of this a psychological training to gain the applicable additional psychological knowledge is essential for every astrologer to have.

Astrology school - part 10: The Ascendant

-The ascendant also called the rising sign can be found at the cusp of the 1st house,
i.e. using a clock to visualize this, it's at 9 o'clock.

-The ascendant is what life is all about for us and the style in which we meet life in general.

-It represents the ‘you’ that the outside world perceives
or in other words the impression you make on others.

-The ascendant also shows our overall personality including traits and needs.

-It stands for our relationship to any type of initiation itself, i.e. our inborn expectations and images we have whenever we have to get something started. Each time we experience something similar to birth, each time we embrace a new area or situation
the qualities of our ascendant will be shown.

-We attribute to life the qualities of the sign on the ascendant.
It is therefor our lens through which we perceive existence.
Since we see the world in this way, we invariably act and behave in accordance
with this vision.

- During our life we always show more traits of our ascendant,
i.e. the older we get the more we move away from the traits of our sun sign
and show more and more traits of our ascendant.

-Also will the qualities of the ascendant be reflected – to some degree
in our overall physical appearance.

-The ascendant shows the path the individual soul chose to follow in this life.

-The position of the ascendant ruler indicates under what circumstances
we are most in line with our soul's planned life.

Taking notice of our ascendant and its qualities will not only enable us to become
more aware of who we really are and want to be, but will also make us more

Earth, or the heart:

Earth/Sun represent the end of meaning, the heart of it all. The two are one.
The marriage is consummated, the child is born. The Earth is us as we are in our oneness. The Sun is the essence of what it all means.

Venus, or compassion:

Inside Earth. Compassion. Infinite response and attention. Cherishing. How we respond to life. How we find ourselves in response to life. Love, in the sense of responding or attending to.

Mercury, or light:

Messenger truth. First out from the Sun. The light of knowing or seeing in our eyes. Communication itself. Essence of communication.

Sun, or system:

The Sun is not a planet. The description for the Earth given above is the traditional meaning for the Sun. The true Sun is the whole solar system.

Astrology school - part 8:
The Planets (esoteric meaning) - today: Mars.

We will continue with some esoteric meanings of the main planets
- today covering: the planet Mars.

Mars, or the marriage:

Mars is the energy that moves us, the way we feel -- our emotions.
It is what drives us and the way we are driven. And it is the kind of energy or drive
that we have which determines our personal atmosphere or aura:
the kind of room or space in which we have to live -- our living room.
The kind of room we have determines how we feel about our life, comfortable or cramped. After Jupiter fades to an easy repetition, our mind turns to thoughts of unity, oneness -- marriage.

We are driven to marriage of one kind or another. It is the way the two become one. Everyone chooses a form of union, or marriage... some way to join the two opposing parts of ourselves together and to perceive them as one life -- ours.

We master each planet or chakra, maintain it, and move on or penetrate into the next, inner one. The Jupiter chakra is a tremendous war between us and them. Dichotomy. When we seek to understand the secret of "us" and "them," we penetrate into the Mars chakra -- what it all means. Meaning drives us across the Earth until we can see the end of all difference, that it is all one.

We are free at last from the bonds of Saturn. We have learned what we must do to survive or to succeed in life. Yet the world we live in is not a unity. It is us against them. And still this somehow does not feel right.

Our life becomes a process of gathering meanings and hints of a possible unity between the opposing parties. This is the union, or marriage that each must negotiate. The entire Mars chakra has to do with dealing with all the motion, emotion, and meanings of life. Following them out, understanding them. Mars, therefore, is the sphere of all things meaningful, everything that moves us: music, poetry, drama, movies -- the works. Anything that gets a rise out of us. We are working with our Mars as long as we have not completed our marriage, as long as the two have not become one. As long as we are intrigued we are working on our Mars. This mysterious person beckons, that piece of music or poem captures our attention, moves us.

Mars is our marriage or union. It is the systematic making friends with everything that is foreign (other than us). At some point in this journey, we get the message. We cease to be blown hither and yon by every passing emotion. We discover that life is its own meaning. We have penetrated to the Earth, or heart chakra.

Mars, the first planet outside the orbit of the Earth, is associated with action, assertion, aggression or initiative. It tells us how we get things going,
the way we like to work and how we express anger.

Jupiter, or life path:

If Saturn is our life's test, then Jupiter is the key, guide, and light that sees us through the darkness of time (or Saturn). It is the straight and narrow path by which we pass through Saturn's test. Jupiter is the particular way we go or continue in life -- continuity.
It is our "luck" or solution to time's test. In astrology, Jupiter is the great benefactor as it shows us how to find our way through Saturn and the tests of time -- how to use Saturn. Jupiter is our key to succession through time, to success. It is the way through or on. Jupiter is the key, or antidote, to Saturn; therefore, Jupiter has to do with how we are to be successful in life in our particular battle against the forces of time (Saturn). Jupiter often describes our vocation or the way we must go through life, since that through which we have to pass (Saturn) dictates the way we must go through life (our vocation).
We have mastered our Jupiter when we are a physical success.

Once we have learned to master our Saturn, to be successful, our mind is free to explore our situation. The freedom of Jupiter is eternal vigilance toward the law or rules of Saturn. We go from victory to victory over time, or Saturn, which translates into day-to-day success. We make a living.

Now that we are free within time, or Saturn, our mind begins to wonder what it all means. What's the purpose of all this? We begin to penetrate into the next chakra, that of Mars. The key to our success (Jupiter) will be the planet Mars -- how we feel about our life.

Jupiter is the method each of us has for dealing with the limitations of our life.
The Hindu word for Jupiter is Guru and this planet indicates our particular Dharma, the way we can solve the problems that confront us. Thus Jupiter shows us the way in which we can be successful. Jupiter is the light or path. The largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter represents the principles of growth and expansion.

The key to the planets, or the chakras: Here is a planetary key to personal natal chart interpretation that any beginning astrological student can use with confidence.
The natural ordering of the planets that can be seen easily with the naked eye can serve as a key to their interpretation.
As we know, the planetary order out from the Sun is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. These are the naked-eye planets.
Beyond Saturn are the planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

We will start with Saturn (today) and work our way in towards the Sun.
The key thought necessary in order to use these planets in your own horoscope is this:
the inner planet is always the key to the outer.
In every case, in order to reveal, open, and use the outer, we go within.
In other words, each inner planet is the meaning and key to the planet beyond its orbit. For example, we live on Earth. The next planet inside the orbit of the Earth is Venus. Therefore, Venus will be the key to the Earth experience. If we stop and think about it, Venus (or love) has been held up as the key to life on this Earth throughout the ages. If we have obstacles and problems in our life (Saturn), then studying one's Jupiter will give us the key to the planet Saturn in our natal chart... Mars will be the key to Jupiter, and so on. Let's begin.

Saturn, or law:

Almost every astrologer wants to know where Saturn is in the chart because here we are sure to gain insight into some of the major obstacles and challenges of life. Saturn, is the prince of time and of the material world. We don't break nature's laws, they break us.
The laws of Saturn are much feared, for it is here that we are bound to learn.
The laws of Saturn are often seen as standing between us and an easy life.
But Saturn also provides the walls that make homes possible. Gravity is an example -- the law that holds things in place. We come across the influence of Saturn every time we break nature's law. We are subjected and tested by these laws until such time as we learn to use them. Saturn is so important in the chart because it shows us where we must be disciplined and where we are bound to learn something; therefore, everyone always wants to know how to come to grips with Saturn in the natal chart.
The key to the realm of Saturn in our chart can be found by studying our natal Jupiter.

Saturn indicates where we will have to go through a lot of learning in life, the narrowness that makes our way felt, the walls that make homes possible.
Saturn holds us together as much as apart. Saturn, the ringed planet, shows us our boundaries and limits and where and how we need to take responsibility in life.

Astrology school - part 5: elements and modalities

Today we will continue with some Astrology basics, about elements and modalities

The 12 zodiac signs have different qualities. Certain groups of signs share similar
qualities. The two most popular methods for sign grouping are elements and
modalities.

Elements:
A very popular grouping of the signs is that of the four elements
-- fire, earth, air, and water.

Fire Signs : Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. People with lots of fire in their chart are very active
and involved and "can do" all kinds of things.
Those with little fire can't get started and may need someone to light a fire under them.

Earth Signs : Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. People with lots of earth are very practical.
They can see how to do and use things.
Those with little earth can't be objective, aren't grounded or practical.

Air Signs : Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. People with lots of air are analytical;
they are able to resolve and draw conclusions.
Those with little air have trouble with abstractions and ideas -- getting the "big picture."

Water Signs : Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces. People with lots of water are very feeling and
"sense"-ative. Those with little water can't get a feel for things; they run cool.

Modalities:
Another popular way of grouping the zodiac signs is by cardinal, fixed, and mutable.

Cardinal Signs : Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.
People with a heavy emphasis in cardinal signs are self-starters, doers.
They initiate and get things moving. Folks with few planets in cardinal signs may have trouble getting the ball rolling.

Astrology school - part 4: rulers of zodiac signs

Today we will continue with some Astrology basics,
naming the ruler of each zodiac sign.

When talking about star signs one is always talking about the twelve most known signs
of the zodiac.Everyone knows their sign.
But as that sign only represents where the sun was at the time of birth,
and there being many other planets in each and every chart,
this bit of information doesn't really give much detail about any person.

Say for example someone is a leo by star sign,
i.e. the sun was in the sign of leo at the time of birth,
but for example that person might have many planets in taurus,
so that person would be showing much
more characteristics of a taurus than of a leo.

Following now the signs and their subsequent ruler/s:

Aries - ruler: Mars, some also say Pluto
Taurus - ruler: Venus
Gemini - ruler: Mercury
Cancer - ruler: Moon
Leo - ruler: Sun
Virgo - ruler: Mercury, some also say Chiron
Libra - ruler: Venus, some also say Lilith
Scorpio - ruler: Pluto, some also say Mars
Sagittarius - ruler: Jupiter
Capricorn - ruler: Saturn

Astrology school - part 3: houses in astrology

Today we will continue with some Astrology basics
giving you some basic keywords about the astrological houses
used in astrological charts.

There are 12 houses in astrology:

1st house = personality, psychological motivation, appearances

2nd house = money, emotions, monetary values

3rd house = communication, siblings, transport

4th house = home, domestic life, parents (especially mother), childhood

5th house = children, creativity

6th house = work, health, diet, exercise

7th house = partnerships

8th house = transformations, other people's money

9th house = higher education, long distance travel

10th house = career, status

11th house = friends, social life, groups & societies

12th house = secrets, privacy, past karma

In a horoscope/chart the first six houses are the ones on the bottom half.
Using the clock reading to explain the location of the houses in a 360 degree chart:
the 1st house is from 9 o'clock to 8 o'clock
the 2nd house is from 8 o'clock to 7 o'clock
the 3rd house is from 7 o'clock to 6 o'clock
the 4th house is from 6 o'clock to 5 o'clock
the 5th house is from 5 o'clock to 4 o'clock
the 6th house is from 4 o'clock to 3 o'clock.

In a horoscope/chart the second set of six houses are the ones on the top half.
Using the clock reading to explain the location of the houses in a 360 degree chart:
the 7th house is from 3 o'clock to 2 o'clock
the 8th house is from 2 o'clock to 1 o'clock
the 9th house is from 1 o'clock to noon
the 10th house is from noon to 11 o'clock
the 11th house is from 11 o'clock to 10 o'clock

Astrology school - part 1: Creating the Natal Chart

A bit of science:
The astrological, or natal, chart is a method of mapping the space surrounding our Earth
for a birth moment. A natal chart is simply a snapshot of the cosmos at the time of birth. We know that all things are in motion. Not only do the planets move slowly at
different speeds in great elongated orbits around the Sun, but the Earth itself turns on its axis once in 24 hours. As the Earth turns during a day, each one of us is exposed to the entire 360 degrees of the zodiac.

What a natal chart shows:
The natal chart is a diagram or picture that stops the cosmic clock and
captures the universe as it exists at a particular moment your birth.
A natal chart is your individual cosmic portrait. It is what the universe has to
say about who you are and what you may become.
Your cosmic portrait is ready any time you are.

The Sun sign interpretations that we find in most newspapers are a far cry from the work of professional astrologers. For one, the sign the Sun was in on the day of your birth (for example Aries, Taurus, or Gemini) is only one of many factors that are looked at by professionals. In addition to the day and year of birth, professionals use the time and place of birth as well. Birthdate, year, time and place are all needed to pinpoint your place in time and space.
Given this information, an astrologer creates what is called a natal or birth chart.

Each natal chart includes the exact position of the Sun, Moon, and the planets: Mercury,
Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto & also other planets like Chiron, Lilith etc. - this always depends on the astrologer. The planets are then placed in a circular diagram called a chart wheel. This wheel is a miniature diagram of what the sky looked like at the moment of birth as seen from the birthplace.

The very top of the chart, or MC (Medium Coeli -- short for midheaven) is that part of the
zodiac directly overhead, while the bottom of the chart, or IC (Imum Coeli, or lower heaven) is the part beneath your feet and on the other side of the Earth from you.
At the extreme left-hand side of the wheel (at the position of 9 o'clock) is the ascendant, or rising sign -- the part of the zodiac that is on the horizon or rising at the birth moment. Conversely, the descendant is on the right-hand side of the chart (at the position of 3 o'clock). This is the part of the zodiac that is setting.

These four points, the ascendant, descendant, midheaven, and IC
are very important to astrologers. They are sensitive points and give great insights into the horoscope or the chart analysis.

Astrology applied to real life: an example

As an example
someone has a difficult or tricky astrology aspect of a square or an opposition
which effects the area of relationships in his or her natal chart.

Now this on its own will be a fact and this particular aspect
cannot be changed for that person's incarnation.

As the person's soul wants to experience exactly this area in its life,
as it's almost always the case,
such a particular challenging aspect is chosen for this area.

With regards to that aspect the soul's task would be to decide almost on a daily basis
whether the person (the soul) chooses to grow with that particular challenge
or whether it chooses to fall into despair over it.

The person will be confronted with and therefor experiencing problematic and thus challenging situations in that particular area of life throughout all of his or her life,
as with such a constellation this will ALWAYS be the case.
But this is where astrology can lend a helping hand:
by providing this knowledge about this (beforehand)
and with this knowledge the person can then continuously choose
to get empowered by it rather than getting pulled down or confused.

However it's important to understand that this aspect does not suggest or recommend
for the person to try avoid relationships altogether
- with such an aspect this wouldn't even be possible,
but one needs to realise that it's the soul's wish for this incarnation to make its experience in that area ('good or bad', 'positive or negative')
Furthermore let's not forget that the soul had chosen exactly this aspect and the abundant experience potential out of its free will before that incarnation.

So by experiencing or getting confronted with problematic relationships,
it would not be a sign that this person is walking a 'wrong' path,
as according to the person's soul it's the soul's wish to experience those,
BUT if the person becomes bitter, cold, sad, desperate, angry, etc.
because of those experiences,
THEN that path wouldn't have been the 'hoped for' path of its soul.

But should the person choose to feel that way, because of free will,
that would also be possible of course
and according to the Universe also absolutely fine.

Everything always happens in its divine order.
And we will remain divine beings in every moment of our lives,
this can never be changed,
no matter what path we choose to walk or take in life!

What astrology can do for us and our lives

with diffculties (=our challenge to grow because of it) as well as rather lucky times.

4. How exactly we will use and utilize these, our abilities, and whether and how we will cope with the difficult times in our life, will be determined by our own free will.

5. Furthermore for parents an astrological analysis of the child's natal chart
can help to find the most suitable ways to raise, help and guide the child.

6. Karmic and past life astrology can show how previous lives influence
this current incarnation and life.

7. Through karmic and past life astrology one can find out the life's purpose
for this incarnation.

8. With synastry charts one can show the potential of any partnership, relationship, friendship, parent-child relationship or even employer-employee relationship etc.

and so much more.

Not using the knowledge of astrology (i.e. the knowledge of the astrological natal chart and transit analyses) in ones incarnation, is like being caught in the middle of a full blast tornado. BUT utilizing the knowledge of astrology
gives us a steady rope or hand to hold on to during this hurricane.

Why walking around aimlessly in the dark, when astrology can be the bright shining lamp to lighten our (darkest) roads during our life?
